The end of December '09 had it's second solar eclipse of the month - which is called a "Blue Moon". Since this rarely happens, that's where the saying "Once in a blue moon" comes from. In honor of that, here's my interpretation of "Blue Moon". A heavy sterling full moon with the 'blue moon' bead right in the center.

Blue Moon
The end of December '09 had it's second solar eclipse of the month - which is called a "Blue Moon". Since this rarely happens, that's where the saying "Once in a blue moon" comes from.
